Keep your valuables close to your body, such as your cameras, cell phones, and briefcases, and be aware of your surroundings. For security, don’t take your original passport around with you. You can carry a paper copy and leave the original in your hotel room.

- Check for quality. Make sure that any handmade items you purchase are well-made and won't fall apart easily. In the markets, you will come across an overwhelming amount of products, whether it’s an Andean wool sweater, fruit or handmade jewelry. Take a look around the whole market before you buy, and if you don’t find anything nicer or cheaper, return to the first place.
