Reading : 1 min September 16 2019

Ollantaytambo is one of the most complete little towns of the Valle Sagrado. This town is located in the Valle Sagrado of the Incas, 72 kilometers/45 miles from the city of Cusco and 32 km/20 mi from Machu Picchu. It is 2,792 meters/9,160 feet above sea level and its climate tends to be warm and mild.

Between October and March, there are two seasons during the year: rainfall with intense temperatures that vary between 11°C/52°F and 18°C/64°F; and between April and September the weather becomes cold during the night and during the day, bright sunlight and clear blue skies with temperatures that vary between 5°C/41°F and 23°C/73°F.

Since Ollantaytambo is located between two slopes, the weather tends to change during dry season, which is between April and September. During those months, there is less chance of rain, the skies are more clear and the temperature is moderate during the day.
