As you continue along the trail, you will be able to witness some of the most impressive ruins of the Inca Empire. These archaeological sites include the ruins of Patallaqta, an administrative center, Runkurakay, one of the oldest Inca ruins. It’s important to get into shape before attempting the Inca Trail. The trek is long and challenging, and you will be carrying a heavy backpack. This means that you should start training several months before your trip to Peru, so that your body is used to the physical demands of the trek.
